  • What is DEKA QuietNite CO2 SmartPulse Fractional Laser Therapy?
Patented and unique, DEKA QuietNite CO2 SmartPulse fractional laser treatments are patient friendly, non-invasive, fast and effective. Precisely controlled pulses of laser energy are gently delivered to the soft tissues of the oropharynx, which tighten the tissue and can increase upper airway volume. This leads to a decrease in the incidence and amplitude of snoring and a better night’s sleep.
  • What Are The Benefits Of DEKA QuiteNite Fractional Laser Therapy?
    • A safe, fast & effective non-invasive treatment • Immediate and long-term results • Significant decrease in incidence and amplitude of snoring • A good night’s sleep (for patient & partner) • Reduced headaches, more daytime energy, better concentration, attitude, and overall improvement in rest, health and quality of life!
  • Who Is A Candidate For Treatment?
Anyone who snores may be a candidate. A consultation with a dentist will guide the patient in diagnosis and treatment options for snoring. Approximately 80% of the people who snore are referred to as “mouth snorers”. The fundamental cause of this acoustic affect is palatal flutter, the vibration of the flaccid soft tissue of the oropharynx. If this is the case, you are an ideal candidate for the DEKA QuietNite CO2 SmartPulse fractional laser therapy.
  • Do DEKA QuietNite Fractional Laser Treatments Treat Sleep Apnea?
No, C02 SmartPulse fractional laser treatments are designed to treat snoring, not sleep apnea. Snoring is merely a symptom of sleep apnea and while most people diagnosed with sleep apnea snore, not all people who snore have sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a potentially serious sleep disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep. The most common type of sleep apnea is Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), which occurs when the upper airway is either partially or completely blocked during sleep. This can happen several times during the night and when the brain senses a decrease in oxygen levels, it rouses you from sleep (often with a gasp) so you can re-open your airway, and breathing resumes. These episodes reduce the oxygen flow to vital organs and can cause heart rhythm irregularities, headaches, depression, cognitive impairment, and daytime fatigue. That being said, there are multiple alternatives to treat the symptoms of OSA, including mandibular advancement devices (mouth appliances) you wear at night and CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machines. The DEKA QuietNite C02 SmartPulse fractional laser treatments can also be used as an adjunctive therapy to treat the symptom (snoring) of patients diagnosed with OSA, but they do not cure the cause of OSA, they merely treat one of the symptoms.
  • Is The Treatment Painful?
No. Based on the precision of the proprietary DEKA SmartPulse technology , laser energy is gently delivered to the target tissue without the requirement of local anesthetic.
  • How Many Treatments Are Needed?
On average 2 to 3 initial treatments are required at 21 to 30 day intervals. One treatment is then required annually.
  • 7.What Are The Alternative Treatments For Snoring?
The first consideration to address snoring, should be diet and lifestyle issues including excess weight, smoking & alcohol consumption, all which can contribute to the incidence and severity of snoring. One of the most common alternatives for snoring is mandibular advancement devices which are appliances (mouth guards) worn at night, designed to improve upper airway capacity over time. DEKA QuietNite CO2 SmartPulse fractional therapy can be used to compliment mandibular advancement devices. Finally, a surgical alternative referred to as a uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (or uvulopalatoplasy) typically performed by an Oral or ENT surgeon, which involves removal of palatal soft tissue, has shown mixed clinical outcomes and can result in significant post-operative pain and discomfort.
